ICT Reflection for the month of November.

This time I did not have lesson as such but   most of the time l assess their  work and children are getting  bored.     On 9th November  I took my class II  students to the IT lab during 2nd period. I let them to watch  video  on phonic sounds(diagraph ).
Blending sounds are crucial phonemic awareness skill that helps students to read unfamiliar words.
Blending is the skill of joining individual speech sounds (phonemes) together to make a word.
In lower classes , blending and segmenting are very important. If they can blend and segment words ,then they can read unfamiliar  words.

While watching the video, I could see the  children very excited to blend and  read together.
They watched video  and were very excited in learning.

October Teaching Reflection.

                                                ICT Integration  lesson

In our classroom the knowledge is imparted by the teacher in an ancient way, a teacher centric mode which is most of the time boring and not to gain interest to the student. But present 21st Century‟s education is student centric education.

Students learn from multi sources and for this reason use of ICT & Multimedia is very much essential in educational field and simultaneously teacher‟s knowledge of ICT and Multimedia also required.

So  we all know that students  have keen interest  in watching  videos.

On 26th October, during third and fourth  period, l let class two students to watch on the topic, "short and long vowels" This topic  was revision for them. Before showing  the video, I asked some questions  to check their background  knowledge and also whether  they can  recollect  the topic or not.

After that I Elaborated and expanded lesson in depth about the long and short  vowel.

Then  I explained  and took  them to watch the video  in the ICT room. For  lesson  introduction  and  development I let them  to watch the  video given below.

The video  link is given below.

Students  really enjoyed  watching  video. They were very attentive  while watching the video.

September Teaching Reflection

                                                                                                                       27th September  2021

A Lesson Through Video Tutorial

I taught a lesson  on vowel  digraph sounds(diphthongs) to class three students. Firstly l introduced the sound of  /ou/ and /ow/. Then gave more examples  of /ou/ and /ow/ words. Again to give clear concept  and the sounds like   native speaker l had a video tutorial . I made students to watch the video and practise the sounds while and after watching the video.

Students  really  enjoyed  watching  videos. They  learn faster   by watching  videos than the  normal teaching.

They were given some  test activities in the video itself.

After watching  video,  l  asked them to tell the words and  wrote on the board.
l let them to blend and read. Then l went around and randomly asked some students to  blend and read.
I have given lots of activities to have hand on practice.

Many of my children could do the reading  activities  very well. Even the weaker students could blend and read the words.
At last l was very happy because  all the students  could blend and read the words.
So to engage whole class with just one lesson, I have to come up with something catchy things. This is when I came up with this video tutorial.
Again to revise  , l have sent the video in the class  wechat  and telegram groups. As a whole the lesson was very interesting  and enjoyable.  From next time,  whenever l teach sounds, l will surely  include ICT to enhance teaching learning process.

August Teaching Reflection

INTEGRATION OF ICT IN THE LESSON

Nursery rhymes help children to develop language acquisition and help speech development. It helps to develop referencing skills, both with encountering new words and in reading comprehension. Because these verses are made up of patterns, they are easy first memorization pieces

On 26th August I taught nursery rhyme (action song) on the topic ‘Na Na Na... I am so happy’ to class ll students.
Children were interested to learn the action song.
It was easy for me to teach action song, as they have keen interest  in watching  and listening.
Firstly l taught them verbs (action words).
I explained the action words, then l made them to show the action. After explaining  l let them to watch the song.

ICT helps me to teach that rhyme with correct intonation  and helps children to learn very  quickly. I did it in the class itself by taking laptop to the class, because it takes time to take small kids to the other room connected with projectors.

After watching many times they can sing the rhyme “ Na Na Na...l am so happy” with correct lyrics.  They can now show action while singing.

If we can use ICT daily with our lesson I am sure it will benefit our children in learning. On the other hand, it has disadvantages, example lack resources, meaning every class need projector individually with a computer which is impossible due to lack of budgets. We cannot take our children to other room  connected with projectors every period.

It reduces our time from teaching periods.
Therefore, I wish in future our children get these facilities to use in the classrooms.

July Teaching Reflection.

Why ICT in Our Daily Teaching Learning Process?

ICT is an extensional term for information technology (IT) that stresses the role of unified communications and the integration of telecommunications (telephone lines and wireless signals) and computers, as well as necessary enterprise software, middle ware, storage, and audiovisual systems, that enable users to access, store, transmit, and manipulate information.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has an important role in the world since we are now in the information age ere. With ICT, the company can make the business easier to happen with the client, supplier and the distributor. It is also very important in our daily lives. The lack of information at the right time will result in low productivity, low quality research works, and waste of time to pursue information. Nowadays ICT cannot be separated with our daily needs.

ICT is the mode of education that uses information and communications technology to support, enhance, and optimize the delivery of information. One way to improve the quality of educations is to make use of efficient technology in an institution. This will open up more opportunities for teachers and students as well.

The use of ICT in teaching-learning process is a relatively new phenomenon and it has been the educational researchers’ focus. The effective integration of this technology into classroom practices poses a challenge to teachers and administrators. However, the presence of all these factors increased the chance of excellent integration of ICT in teaching-learning process. Therefore, the training of teaching staff in the pedagogical issues and administrators in administration are convinced of the value of using ICT in our teaching-learning process and administration.

Advantages and disadvantage of ICT in teaching-learning s

 Advantages and Disadvantages

of ICT in the classroom.

Technological development and advancement in the west has been very impactful. Due to globalization and changes, the advancement of technology has made its way in the field of learning and education. One of the most important change was seen in classrooms where ICT, Information and Communication Technology has been integrated to make the process of learning quite easy. Integration of ICT in the classroom is  seen as something revolutionary. Moving from primitive method of teaching to modern way of teaching through integration of ICT was seen as moving from a dark age to light age. However, despite the benefits of ICT in classrooms, there are certain issues and challenges in integrating the ICT in classrooms.

The first and foremost benefit of ICT in learning is that it allows dynamic and cooperative learning among the students. With the access to the Internet, learning is not limited to school hours or in school boundary. Instead it gives the learners opportunity to learn and study.

A rural student can access information of an urban student and share it to a foreign students, be it during the school hours or holidays. With access to the Internet, the dependency of the students on teachers will also be minimal and the student will be able to know when to explore, how to explore and what to explore from the internet. When the students explore the information by themselves, it ensure their attention and concentration on that particular topic or subject, making them well educated in that particular topic and subject.

However, due to limited financial aid from the government and the ability to adapt to the modern facilities there  are  some  challenges. Making them  accessible to ICT requires huge financial support because of expensive materials. In Bhutan the cost of internet is very high as well as other electronic equipments are also expensive. The adaptability is also a question, since ICT in general isn’t common in the field of teaching anywhere in the country before. During  the school  closure last year, we all came to know the importance  and challenges of using ICT.
